There are more reasons than ever before to give up alcohol. A new, in-depth research study involving nearly six hundred thousand (600,000) people from nineteen different countries, conducted by a team of one hundred and twenty scientists found that contrary to public belief, “the more you drink, the shorter your life-span,” according to a report by CNN.com. The study found that people drinking as little as one to two drinks per day can expect to die about six months sooner. People that consume two to three drinks per day could die up to two years sooner than those who don’t.
Real Dangers
The study goes on to say that drinking alcohol is associated with a number of serious cardiovascular problems, including stroke, aortic aneurysm, severe high blood pressure, and increased risk for breast cancer, as well as cancers of the digestive system.
Less Is More
The new findings contradict U.S. Federal Guidelines which claim that men can safely consume up to two alcoholic drinks per day, and one drink per day for women. Previous claims that a little alcohol increases good HDL cholesterol levels are outweighed by the damage alcohol causes and shorter life expectancy.
Not only is alcohol addicting, it is also a life shortener. So less is more. Drink less to live longer.
