Through mindfulness we can learn to intentionally use the power of our mind to help us channel and focus even the most intense and negative feelings into constructive and positive action. Awareness is the way.
The fundamental philosophical principle that the Buddha taught more than 2,500 years ago is that all our suffering comes about as a result of an undisciplined mind. This untamed mind itself comes about through ignorance and negative emotions. Only by applying methods for training the mind can these negative emotions be dispelled and eliminated. They cannot be removed by some external technique, such as a surgical operation.
